The Center for Free Enterprise (CFE), together with the office of member of the National Assembly Yongtae Kim, the “The New Thinking” program of the Foundation for Advanced Studies on International Development of the Korean Peninsula, and Weekly Chosun, held a discussion titled “The New Normal of Semiconductor and AI Company Profits: Asking What Comes After Samsung’s Performance Bonuses.” Prompted by the recent record-breaking earnings of semiconductor and AI companies and the debate over performance bonuses, the event examined to whom corporate profits should be distributed and according to what standards. The discussion broadly covered the spread of performance bonuses across industry, debates over social redistribution, the balance between shareholder and worker rights, and ways to cultivate talent in semiconductors and AI.
