Book Concert Celebrating the Publication of *Fake Publicness: The Lie That It Benefits Everyone*

The book concert for *Fake Publicness: The Lie That Claims to Be for Everyone* was held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Pureun Hall.

This event was organized to examine whether policies and regulations carried out in the name of publicness are actually serving the interests of the entire public, and to explore the direction of a society in which genuine publicness functions on the basis of freedom, the rule of law, and market order.

In Part 1, the author, Professor Hyeokwoo Lee of the Department of Public Administration at Pai Chai University, introduced the book, focusing on fake publicness, misunderstandings about democracy, market principles, human nature, and regulatory reform. He then emphasized that regulatory reform aimed at correcting flawed existing institutions is an important way to realize genuine publicness.

In the following Part 2 talk concert, Gwang yong Go, Policy Director of the Center for Free Enterprise (CFE), served as moderator, joined by Professor Hyeokwoo Lee of the Department of Public Administration at Pai Chai University and Dr. Hyesung Jang of Public Administration at Korea University. Their discussion focused on the standards for distinguishing genuine public interest from fake publicness, the hidden costs of policy, and the relationship between good intentions and actual outcomes.
