jo_imgA book concert commemorating the 250th anniversary of The Wealth of Nations was held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.

This event was organized by the Center for Free Enterprise (CFE) to mark the 250th anniversary of the publication of Adam Smith’s The Wealth of Nations. Centered on the book’s core values and its significance in the modern economy, the event also explored the direction Korean society should take moving forward. In his lecture, Jaewook Ahn, Professor Emeritus of Economics at Kyung Hee University, concluded by examining the key contents of The Wealth of Nations and addressing major misconceptions about Adam Smith.

In the discussion that followed, Iseok Kim, Director of the Institute for Market Economy and Institutions, and Pyeongse Jo, President of the 1776 Institute, took part as panelists. Their conversation focused on how Adam Smith’s intellectual legacy can be incorporated into Korean society, as well as on Smith’s “invisible hand,” the current international landscape, and central bank monetary policy.

Thank you to everyone who participated.
