On July 2021, one notable candidate(former Attorney General) for 2022 Korean presidential election pointed 'Free to Choose' as the book that gave enormous influence to his own opinion on state operation. He said that he read the book when he was young after his father introduced this book to get sense of balance in academic thinking. By mentioning trial and error caused by FDA in terms of clinical trial restraint, he criticized the government's limitation against consumers' freedom to choose.
