President’s Introduction
“For a country to entertain prosperity and economic growth, free enterprise need to be encouraged.” Choi Sung-no, the president of Center for Free Enterprise (CFE) has been a firm believer and an advocate of free market for many good years. He has been with CFE since its establishment more than 20 years ago and takes pride in his dedication to the organization and its achievements.
Choi describes CFE's identity as follows: “CFE is a think-tank dedicated to promoting the value of the free market economy through academic research and public advocacy. CFE was founded in 1997 for this purpose, and it remains committed to spreading liberalism and fostering a nation conducive to corporate activities.”
In 2017, Choi became the president of CFE during a challenging period for both Korea and the organization, as it faced political and financial difficulties. However, under Choi’s leadership, CFE achieved financial independence through meticulous restructuring. Today, CFE thrives as a self-sufficient organization, serving as a hub ideas and individuals who champion freedom.
As the president, Choi reaffirms his commitment to CFE’s mission: “My goal is to strengthen CFE as a key organization that promotes a more corporate-friendly environment in Korea. I believe that the principles of free enterprise are crucial to fostering new ideas and successful ventures, which will ultimately drive societal progress.”
A scholar and a prolific writer, Choi enjoys sharing his work with the public and his peers. In addition to numerous independent publications, he has authored over 20 books on the market economy. Choi has also served as president of Market Economy Society since 2017 and as secretary-general of the Korean Association of Christian Economists since 2015.
